Mudjingaal Yangamba means Spirit Singing in Dhurga, one of the original languages spoken on the South Coast, NSW.
Through the creation and celebration of song, this strong Koori women's choir bring together Elders, Aunties and sisters in revitalising their traditional languages, sharing their stories with community for healing, growth and joy.
Acknowledging, writing, singing and sharing all our ancestral languages, we gather as community with community and for community.
Formed in 2022, Mudjingaal Yangamba has grown into a powerful collective of Koori women, many acclaimed artists in their own right, who weave story, healing and celebration through music.
They have performed with Uncle Kev Carmody, Uncle Kutcha Edwards, Shellie Morris, Emma Donovan, Nooky, Mark Atkins and Kirli Saunders, and featured at the Canberra International Music Festival, Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival, Milton Folk, Jazz and Blues Festival, Open Field Arts Festival, and Songs for Freedom Concert at Barangaroo.
Their work has also been showcased in major installations, including Healing Truth (Lazy Mountain Music and Arts Festival), Bangandha Yangamba-nga by Nicole Smede (Shoalhaven Regional Art Gallery), and Our Laughter Will Become the Waterfall by Jazz Money (JOY, Immigration Museum, 2024).
